Russia Wins Gold and Silver In Figure Skating Pairs

Tatyana Volosozhar and Maksim Trankov won gold medal at the Sochi 2014 Olympics.
The world’s best pair, who won the short program with the world record result of 84.17 points have brought Russia its second gold medal in figure skating.
Volosozhar and Trankov, who performed to ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ by Andrew Lloyd on the ice of the Iceberg Palace, received 236.86 points from the judges at Pair Free Skating event.

“I was crying because I felt so many emotions, nerves, concentration. I’m still nervous and shaking but I’m also so happy,” said Volosozhar whose make-up was streaked by her tears.
“We are like two halves of the same person, we are like twins. We always know where each other is, feel each other, we are always together and we share the same moments,” her partner added.

The silver went to the second Russian pair of duo Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov, who score 218.68 points.
German’s Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy took bronze after two falls free skate and overall result of 215.78 points.
